Purpose of CLIMA TERRA

CLIMA TERRA presents weather, environmental and air-quality information in a visual, understandable and people-focused format. It is not an official weather service and does not replace public warnings, emergency services or medical and professional advice.

Data sources

• Open-Meteo: temperature, apparent temperature, humidity, precipitation, wind, ultraviolet index and air quality.
• OpenStreetMap and Nominatim: location search, geocoding and descriptive place references.
• Netlify: hosting and technical delivery of the web experience.

Availability, accuracy, update frequency and coverage depend on the original sources. Data may come from models, observations, estimates or combinations of them, so differences may exist compared with local stations, official services or other applications.

Forecast for the next seven days

The “Next 7 days” view uses Open-Meteo to show today and the following six days in the location’s time zone: forecast conditions, daily maximum and minimum air temperature at two metres above ground, and maximum precipitation probability. Temperatures are displayed in °C. The weather description corresponds to the most adverse forecast condition code for the day; it does not necessarily describe every hour.

“Max. precip. prob.” shows the highest of the hourly precipitation probabilities forecast for that day. Each hourly probability refers to more than 0.1 mm of precipitation in one hour. It is not a cumulative daily probability or a measure of precipitation intensity, duration or amount. Missing data is shown as “Unavailable”. See the provider’s definitions.

Open-Meteo data is offered under CC BY 4.0, with attribution to the provider. CLIMA TERRA adapts its presentation and descriptions. The data licence and service terms are separate from the licence for CLIMA TERRA’s own content; the free API is limited to non-commercial use.

How data is processed and interpreted

CLIMA TERRA transforms retrieved values into visual indicators, descriptive levels and general recommendations. These interpretations rely on predefined and reviewed rules, ranges and texts; they are not diagnoses or decisions automatically generated by a generative model for each query.

Interpretation references

When an information window needs additional context, CLIMA TERRA may link to documentation from organisations such as the World Health Organization, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or NASA. These organisations provide public reference context: they do not supply CLIMA TERRA’s current values, calculate its results, validate or sponsor the project, or maintain an official relationship with it.

License for original CLIMA TERRA content

Original CLIMA TERRA content for which its author has the right to grant a licence is made available under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0). This includes, where original and licensable, editorial texts, explanations, interpretations, general recommendations and project documentation.

CC BY 4.0 permits sharing —copying and redistributing— and adapting —remixing, transforming and building upon the material— for any purpose, including commercially, provided that appropriate credit is given, a link to the licence is provided and any changes are indicated.

This licence does not automatically apply to CLIMA TERRA source code or software. Third-party data, services, cartography, software and other materials remain subject to their own licences, terms of use, attribution requirements, limitations and notices. Their inclusion or use within CLIMA TERRA does not alter those conditions or relicense them under CC BY 4.0.

Use of artificial intelligence

CLIMA TERRA was developed with the support of artificial intelligence tools for programming, design, structuring, reviewing and improving content.

Artificial intelligence is used as an assistive tool during development. The displayed weather, environmental and air-quality data comes from the identified sources and is not generated by an artificial intelligence model within CLIMA TERRA.

The selection, review, interpretation and publication of the experience remain under human supervision and responsibility. CLIMA TERRA does not currently use a generative model to create personalised responses, alter original data or automatically produce new recommendations for each query.

This statement is provided as a voluntary transparency measure in consideration of the European framework for AI-related systems and content. It does not claim that every data point or element of the experience is subject to mandatory labelling as AI-generated content.

Location and privacy

When users choose to use their location, permission is managed by the browser or operating system. Coordinates are used for the requested query and are not permanently stored by the application. Manual search is also available. Full details are provided in the Privacy Policy.

Limitations and responsibility

Information may contain delays, estimates, deviations or periods of unavailability. Official authorities and qualified professionals should always be consulted for hazards, alerts, emergencies, health decisions or safety-sensitive activities.
